Good vision is essential for learning and academic success, yet many children around the world face barriers to accessing essential eye care services. Beyours NGO is dedicated to addressing this issue through our school eye tests program, which aims to identify and address vision problems among school-aged children through regular screenings and eye examinations. Our school eye tests program involves partnering with educational institutions, including schools and childcare centers, to conduct comprehensive eye screenings for students. These screenings are typically performed by trained eye care professionals, such as optometrists or vision technicians, using portable equipment that can be easily set up on-site. During the screenings, students undergo a series of tests to assess their visual acuity, depth perception, eye alignment, and other aspects of eye health. Those who are found to have vision problems, such as refractive errors (e.g., nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism) or amblyopia (lazy eye), are referred for further evaluation and treatment. In cases where students require corrective lenses, Beyours NGO provides free eyeglasses or vision correction devices to ensure that they have the tools they need to see clearly and succeed in school. We also work closely with school administrators, teachers, and parents to support students’ ongoing eye care needs and ensure that they receive appropriate follow-up care. Beyond addressing individual vision needs, our school eye tests program also serves as an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of eye health and promote preventive measures to maintain good vision. We educate students, parents, and school staff about common eye conditions, proper eye care practices, and the importance of regular eye exams.
